InBody offers state-of-the-art, FDA-approved body composition testing through Bioimpedance Analysis (or BIA). With the rise of prescriptive medications for weight loss management and the continuous craze of dietary trends that come and go, you deserve to know where you stand when it comes to muscle mass, fat mass, hydration, your daily caloric burn, A.K.A your metabolism and even your cellular age!
Maintaining our muscle mass is critical for health, strength, balance and longevity. So, when the weight is on a downward trend, we want to ensure it is the fat that is declining – both visceral fat and subcutaneous fat. We also want to confirm that we are maintaining and building our muscle mass.
You can now understand your health by seeing how much muscle, fat, and water you have instead of relying on a number on a scale. In just 30 seconds the InBody will reveal how your diet, exercise and medications are affecting your well-being. You will receive a personalized InBody report that informs you of your overall health including body fat percentage, amount of lean muscle tissue, visceral fat (fat in and around your organs) and more.
When it comes to muscle mass, the InBody 380 measures how much lean mass a user has in each body segment: right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg and trunk. With these values, you can determine what side is weaker and adjust your training to optimize strength and recovery. A user can monitor how the body is adjusting to dietary changes, fitness routines, rehabilitation and lifestyle modifications.
Who would benefit from BIA testing?
- Anyone who is taking a prescription weight loss medication. We will monitor changes to your body composition after starting a weight management program to ensure you maintain your muscle mass and continue to lose lbs on the scale that are fat, not muscle.
- Anyone starting an exercise program and looking to improve and gain insight into muscle tone
- Anyone recovering from an injury and looking to rebalance strength and muscle tone
- Those wanting to support the nutrition and health of their body.
We include the BIA on all our physical exams, often your second visit to our office. If you would like to learn more or add this to your next appointment, please call our office at 250-868-0221 or send us an email [email protected] to learn more.
